The
Secret Story: A Novel by Ginny Gilroy
The Secret Story is part Gothic horror,
part psychological thriller, but transcends genre fiction by examining
issues of identity and control. At its center is a strong, contemporary
heroine, Constance Tierney. Although independently wealthy she is devoted
to her job as vice president of technology at a small publishing company.
When Constance commits a seemingly irrational act of betrayal at work,
she realizes she must resurrect the truth of her past, which she has hidden
even from herself. Leaving behind her comfortable life in New York City,
she returns to the mansion she had inherited. The old caretaker, who has
an unnatural devotion to the long-deserted house, is reluctant to help
her unearth the secrets of her past. However, the past won’t rest,
forcing Constance into a decisive act of ownership.
The
Secret Story is complete at 75,000 words. A proposal or the full
